Availability
I currently have availability for in-person sessions in Brighton or online, on a Thursday, or online on a Monday evening.
About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative Counsellor and Therapeutic Coach. Prior to becoming an experienced therapist, I held several roles as a group facilitator, support worker and Team Leader, in both the public (NHS) and third sector. This has included services in mental health, homelessness, the criminal justice system and drug and alcohol misuse. This vast experience has helped me to develop an understanding and empathy for others, where you will hopefully experience this in feeling listened to and heard, feeling safe, supported, not judged and less alone in your thoughts and experience.
My aim is to offer you a safe, non-judgemental, accepting and culturally sensitive space, so that you have the freedom to explore your inner thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Having that trusting and supportive environment, may also encourage you to reflect on issues like beliefs, values, race, culture, family background and identity. Additionally looking at the cross over that can happen within these and experience of discrimination, disadvantage and privilege.
I work in a collaborative and relational manner, where you and I embark on this journey. Sessions are led by you, based on what you want to address or work towards. This ensures we work in a safe way, led by your pace and what feels comfortable. In my practice, I draw on a range of techniques from counselling, psychotherapy, and coaching to best support you in gaining the awareness and making the changes you’re seeking.
Where sessions are individual to you and led by you, we can be creative in how we work together. This can include writing, pictures, visualizations, story boards, role playing and creative expression. I can also lean into mindfulness, relaxation and body scan techniques when working on building or fortifying the connection between your mind, body and emotions, or for helping to bring focus and awareness into the present moment.
In Therapeutic Coaching, we can focus on either Life Coaching or Leadership Coaching, depending on your current needs and future goals. This approach is typically more proactive and time-bound, it is guided by you—centred on what you want to achieve.
I offer both short- and long-term counselling, depending on what feels right for you and your goals. When it’s helpful, we can take time to reflect on our work together, further nurturing a trusting, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic relationship along the way.
Looking for the right therapist can feel overwhelming, there are so many options, approaches, and questions to consider. To help make this first step a little easier, I offer a free 15-minute consultation by phone or online. It’s a chance for us to briefly explore what’s bringing you to counselling or coaching, what you’re hoping for, and how we might work together.
If you decide to move forward, our first full session will give us space to go deeper into your reasons for seeking support, clarify your goals, and begin shaping a therapeutic or coaching approach that feels right for you.
